Started in 2010 by Chelsea Tracy, Chelsea’s Boutique brought her style to a storefront in Chamberlain, S.D. In 2013, Tracy decided to move shop to a storefront in the up-and-coming retail scene of downtown Sioux Falls.
Although the snow keeps falling, we can look toward spring for fashion inspiration. At Chelsea’s Boutique, the transition to spring is a welcomed change from a dark color palette and chunky sweaters.
The outfits, styled by the boutique’s manager and stylist Kacie, provide the wearer with a seamless transition in wardrobe during inbetween season.
“Chelsea’s started with a dream and a passion not only for fashion but for helping to make women feel confident in their own skin.” Kacie said, “We are a women’s clothing boutique dedicated to making every woman feel as beautiful as they truly are.”
As modeled by Tori Sheldon, the standout spring trends are the bright top with the knot detail and the statement earrings. Kacie believed that this outfit shows off the best that the knot-front shirt trend has to offer. The top, a flowy and light piece called the “Jillian,” retails for $39.95. Kacie paired the stylish blouse with the tried and true white jeans (the “Lois,” $44.95) to make pink the focal point of the outfit.
The fringe earrings are the cherry on the top. Chelsea’s carries a wide range of statement jewelry pieces to fit any person’s taste. The more conversation-provoking the piece, the better it is for the spring season.
Aubrey Bjordal models a look that’s perfect for a more stylish take on classroom comfortable. The “Lucy” Free Spirit top ($34.95) keeps with the classic graphic tee trend, but steps up the style by adding in a scoop neck and flowy fit.
Because the daily extremes in temperature causes a clothing conundrum, Bjordal’s cute cardigan is a necessity to make it through the day in comfort and comes in a fun spring color. The high points of this outfit are the cute booties. They take the classic brown bootie up a notch by adding gold color blocking on the heel. The best part—they’re currently on sale for $19.49!
Chelsea’s brings another unique element to the local shopping scene—they are active in philanthropy. First, they have the initiative called “#ThisIsOurWhy.” The program incentivises customers of the boutique to donate to local charities through their purchase by giving the donator a gift certificate to the boutique that matches their donation. A new charity is featured every six months, with the current charity being Teens Against Sex Trafficking.
On the internet, Chelsea’s shares articles, events and other encouraging posts to help lift up the women around them through their group “Empowering Women of Sioux Falls.” Chelsea’s also hosts events for a group meet with like-minded women in the community.
