An intoxicated minor crashed his vehicle into four parked cars near Solberg Hall on Tuesday night.

A 16-year-old Sioux Falls resident veered from his lane, hitting four cars belonging to Augustana University students parked on South Grange Avenue at 11:52 p.m., according to Sioux Falls police spokesman Sam Clemens.

According to Rick Tupper, vice president for university services, the driver is not a student at Augustana.

Police found prescription pills and marijuana inside the minor’s vehicle upon investigation.

Police arrested and charged the juvenile with driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Freshmen Audrey Moran and Spenser Buck own two of the vehicles involved in the crash. Moran’s 2016 Ford Equinox suffered a bent axle and damage to the front left bumper and tire. Buck’s 2005 Ford 150 was scraped. The cost of damage to the vehicles is currently unknown.

The other two vehicles, one a Mercedes Benz, were heavily damaged according to Buck.

“I was upset at first,” said Moran. “Because it’s my car and it’s an inconvenience. But no one got hurt, and that’s the main thing.”
