The wonder of art: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
People have always debated the concept of “art” and whether it is an object that you can hold and look at or an idea that harnesses every ounce of creativity a person holds?
If you type “art” into Google, the search engine will say the definition of art is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”
But is it really this simple?
Over the years, art has changed over time, and people constantly redefine the concept of art with new forms and ideas. Such an item or picture may be mundane to one person, but to another, it could mean so much more.
Really, the true meaning of art is what the person who views it takes away from the experience. If the piece taught you something or showed meaning in a significant manner, then the artist did their job effectively.
It is astonishing how many different meanings a painting, song, story or sculpture can have. They are also presented in an attractive way that appeals to people who seek to learn more about life and the value it holds.
The possibilities are endless, and if society continues to stay open to new and interesting ideas, art will never cease to exist.
The only way it can truly be eliminated is if we follow a rulebook for the rest of existence and never allow ourselves to stray from the path to solving problems. We can never have a way of painting a picture through words or drawings because everything would be the same. Everyone would be the same.
How do we show what we are feeling if we live the same experience in life and never question and decide our fate, if we just do what everyone else does?
Everyone will find value in a story one week. The next week, half of those people move on, while others want to explore a new meaning of that story just a little longer. All those lasting efforts will then dwindle and be a part of the past, never to be brought up again.
Art is a universal idea that divides us and yet unites us through our ideas and creativity.
It will forever be a part of our history, as long as people make their own choices.
