Vote Kamala Harris: A new way forward

When Kamala Harris wins, she will be the most qualified individual to hold the presidential office in decades. She has been a district attorney, state attorney general, senator and vice president. Under her and President Joe Biden’s administration, inflation is back down to pre-COVID levels, and economic growth remains strong at 3%. Unemployment is low at 4.1%, and the United States has created almost 7 million more jobs than it had before the pandemic. The stock market is hitting all-time highs, and middle-class wealth has surged to record levels.

Even independent from Biden, Harris has acted as a light for what America could become. As vice president, she has surpassed the record for tie-breaking votes within the Senate. Harris is also one of the most well-traveled vice presidents, due in part to her advocacy for women’s rights and border security; she has also taken numerous trips to Latin America to tackle our immigration issues “at its source,” as she was tasked by President Biden.

Harris has also helped to facilitate one of the most comprehensive and bipartisan border deals that America has seen in decades. As opposed to her ongoing work to combat America’s immigration troubles, her opponent has consistently put his campaign above the needs of America in an attempt to win. After telling Republican lawmakers to shoot down their own bipartisan border bill, former President Donald Trump began spewing hateful lies about migrants within America that have had real-world consequences on American citizens.

Harris also offers a clear plan for moving forward in America, whereas her opponent merely offers “concepts of a plan.” She wants to make the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, boost the middle class, offer tax credits for new homeowners, invest in clean and renewable energy and provide healthcare for all.

Harris promises to surround herself with experts from multiple perspectives. She has assured American voters that she will appoint a Republican to her cabinet and will continue Biden’s legacy by being a president for all. Compare this to her opponent who has consistently surrounded himself with only those who will bend to his will. Former President Trump has already worked to put his family members into positions of power while simultaneously promoting the extremist ideas of Project 2025.

As the presidential race has gone on, the American public has seen mental decline and fatigue from the 78-year-old former president. Trump has refused to answer questions by opting to dance for 40 minutes and only appears on news stations that support his political ideas. Conversely, the young and energetic Harris has reached out to those who might disagree with her through interviews with Fox News and other right-leaning outlets.

If you have gotten this far and are still unconvinced of Kamala Harris, I only have one last card to pull: humanity. By voting for Trump, your vote goes to a man held liable for sexual abuse and a convicted felon. This is an individual who called the Jan. 6 riots “a day of love,” promised to be a dictator on day one and threatened to weaponize our justice system against his opponents. He consistently puts himself above America.

On the other side of the aisle, you have Harris, who has repeatedly shown that she can empathize with the concerns of American voters. She was raised modestly by a single mother, attended college and worked vigorously to gain the experience she has today. Despite where she has landed, her policies work to help the middle and lower classes in their efforts to achieve the American Dream.

Harris’ vision of America starkly contrasts that of Trump’s. She seeks to end the partisan game that has stalled our government, work for all Americans and put our country before herself. When you’re standing in the poll booth, pencil in hand, vote for integrity, character and a new way forward.
